GLF 2nd Annual Meeting

Atlanta, GA - January 29, 2008 - On Saturday, January 26, 2008 - the Georgia Latino Forum continued moving forward with efforts to provide a statewide collaboration between all Latino and Latino-serving nonprofit organizations, agencies, and individuals throughout Georgia.  Hosted by the center for Hispanic Studies at Kennesaw State University, the orgainzations, agencies, and individuals from across the state gathered at the Continuing Education Building of Kennesaw State University for a very successful and informative meeting.  Saturday's event was highlighted by informative workshops, networking, the adoption of four resolutions, and elections for the Regional At-Large and Associate positions on the Board of Directors.

Sharon Maloney, Executive Chair of the Georgia Latino Forum stated, "It is a pleasure to convene our 2nd Annual Meeting as we continue to grow and keep on our path to providing a collaborative for all Georgians to come together.  With the ever-growing diverse population in Georgia it is crucial that everyone work together to integrate our diverse backgrounds into one community - Georgia".
Meeting Notes

The meeting was called to order by Sharon Maloney, Executive Chair.  Updates were given surrounding the previous year, the roundtable discussions which were held throughout the state, and the slate of nominees for the Board of Directors was presented and nominees from the floor were taken.

Jamar Jeffers, Georgia Center for Nonprofits presented "Putting the Georgia Center for Nonprofits to Work For You".  Eileen Toledo & Elsa Alvarez-Gainesville Learning Academy, Jorge Quintana & Beth Arnow-Gwinnett County Public Schools presented "An Education Update".  Duran Dodson, Dustin Baxter, Rachel Effron, Charles Kuck, and Chris Tayler all from the American Immigration Lawyers Association presented "An Immigration Update". 

Elections were held for At-Large and Associate Board Member positions (see complete listing on the Board of Directors page) and four resolutions were unanimously passed (see links below).
