OUR HISTORY

On January 21, 2006, an historic summit of Latino and Latino-serving organizations in Georgia took place on the University of Georgia campus in Athens.  The summit provided these organization with a forum to begin discussion on how to work together for greater impact within Georgia's Latino community and to develop a framework for future collaborative efforts.

Out of the 150 delegates attending the summit, 28 volunteered to move this discussion forward by developing the proposed framework for collaboration.  For the next 7 months, this team worked diligently to move this future collaborative effort forward.  The Georgia Latino Forum (formerly the Latino Organizational Summit) held its First Annual Meeting on Saturday, September 23, 2006.

By-laws were adopted, resolutions were passed, and the first Board of Directors was voted in.
